Bottled from a single cask and aged for at least twelve years, Connemara12-Year Peated Irish Single Malt Whiskey offers an expressive aroma with a vibrant presence of malt and peaty smokiness. A smooth, melodious taste on the palate features a superb mix of fruit and peat while a strong spice bite in the finish dominates but doesn't overwhelm the creamy peatiness. Connemara’s whiskies are best described as “Islay meets Ireland” as they retain the smooth and sweet taste of Irish whiskey with the smoky taste associated with Islay Malt whiskies. Inspired by Ireland’s ancient distilling tradition of drying malting barley over peat fires, Connemara’s smooth, sweet malt taste and complex peat flavors make it a truly unique Irish whiskey. For centuries, peat (or turf as it is known locally) was widely used in Ireland to dry cereal crops and to fire the stills. Over the last century this tradition was lost until it was revived to produce world-famous Connemara Single Malt. Opened back in 1757, the Old Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in Ireland.
